The AFUO extends a warm welcome to a talented youth team from Ukraine competing in the International Cyber Olympiad in AI in Sydney this week.
These students – from Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih, Poltavska oblast, and Odesa – showcase the very best of Ukraine’s next generation — sharp, inventive, and unafraid to tackle the hardest problems in robotics, AI and cybersecurity.
They’ve trained, practised and are now competing at the highest level – and they’ve done it notwithstanding russia’s full scale war on Ukraine, a testament to their resilience and determination.

The team carry forward a tradition of excellence in STEM that has long made Ukraine a powerhouse of engineering talent. They are already showing why. Team member Roman Mielamud gained 2nd place in CTF4EAI (Embodied AI Security) and 1st place on Day 1 of the ICOA 2026 Olympiad for AI4CTF (AI as your teammate) — congratulations Roman!
