Each year, on the third Thursday in May, Ukrainians around the world celebrate Vyshyvanka Day – honouring a deeply treasured, ancient symbol of Ukrainian identity, beauty, strength and joy.
Marking the 20th anniversary of this global celebration, join a special Ukrainian World Congress – Свiтовий Конґрес Українців hosted online conversation on Saturday 2 May with Lesya Voroniuk – co-founder of Vyshyvanka Day and Head of the “World Vyshyvanka Day” NGO.

The discussion will explore the 20-year journey of the initiative – from its beginnings in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, when Lesya encouraged her university classmates to wear embroidered shirts (vyshyvanka) to class, to a worldwide celebration spanning 70+ countries.
Keep an eye out on your local Australian-Ukrainian community FB pages for celebrations near you later this month!
