The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations warmly welcomes seven Ukrainian mental health professionals to Australia
They are here as part of a Fellowship program supported by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and delivered by NSW community service STARTTS and supported by various health organisations, including Sydney Local Health District.
The cohort – including psychiatrists, a psychologist, a social worker and an occupational therapist from Superhumans, UNBROKEN Ukraine and Ivano-Frankivsk Institute of Rehabilitation – support Ukrainians affected by russia’s war: military personnel, civilians, internally displaced people, and children.

Their time in Australia will focus on strengthening skills in trauma-informed care, building long-term capacity to support Ukrainians impacted by russia’s ongoing aggression.
The visit builds on a successful 2023 Fellowship, where Ukrainian clinicians undertook intensive training in Australia and returned home with new tools, knowledge, and approaches to better support their communities.
The program has been facilitated by Dr Tanya Dus, Director of Psychiatry at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. Support for the team is being provided by Galiya Faskhutdinova, Training Project Officer at STARTTS.
A community meet & greet is being planned at Kyiv Social
Saturday 2 May (time TBC)
More details to come.
