Standing at the underground pathway to Kyiv’s Lukianivska metro station, our Ambassador in Kyiv Vasyl Myroshnychenko has shown us the horrific real-world impact of the weekend’s attacks on Ukraine.
Overnight, russia launched another massive attack on Kyiv – 41 missiles in just 40 minutes, more than 125 drones – killing at least one person and injuring 17, and hitting a metro station, residential buildings, a dormitory, a supermarket, vehicles and a book warehouse, destroying nearly 250,000 books.
russian attacks over the weekend also killed and wounded civilians across Kharkiv, Sumy, Kherson, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa oblasts, striking hitting apartments, a postal terminal, a children’s rehabilitation centre and an amusement park.
These are not military targets. Homes, shopping centres, medical facilities, and cultural & entertainment sites are where Ukrainians live, work and try to carry on with their lives.
This is russia’s deliberate strategy: unable to defeat Ukraine on the battlefield, it has intensified its campaign to inflict maximum terror and suffering on civilians.
We thank Australia for its steadfast support of Ukraine, but urgently request the Anthony Albanese Government to do more to help Ukraine defend its skies, and to increase the pressure on russia over these unacceptable, daily war crimes.
Email your local Member of Parliament to encourage them to continue supporting Ukraine: https://standwithukraine.good.do/aus-provide-more-military-aid-to-ukraine/
