Urgent Appeal: Medical Nutrition & Hygiene Supplies for Ukrainian Children Fighting Cancer

April 28, 2026 by CYOA Administrator

Today, Ukrainian children battling cancer are facing two wars at once — the war in their country, and the fight for their lives.

A few days ago, a russian attack on Kyiv destroyed the warehouse of our trusted partners, the Tabletochki Foundation Таблеточки — Ukraine’s largest charity supporting children with cancer. Inside were vital supplies: specialised medical nutrition and essential hygiene products. Their loss now puts the care of vulnerable children at serious risk.

In response, the Ukraine Crisis Appeal, together with RAWCS – Rotary Australia World Community Service and the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations, is launching an urgent appeal to ensure these children continue receiving the support they need — without interruption.

💡 Why this matters

Cancer treatment is only possible when basic care is in place — and some of the most critical elements are often the least visible.

🥤 Medical nutrition is lifesaving.

Chemotherapy can make it impossible for children to eat due to nausea, mouth sores, and severe digestive complications. Without proper nutrition, their bodies weaken, treatment becomes harder to tolerate, and recovery slows. Specialised medical nutrition — rich in proteins, vitamins, and minerals — helps children endure treatment and heal when regular food is not an option.

🧼 Hygiene is protection.

Children undergoing cancer treatment have weakened immune systems. Even minor infections can become life-threatening. Limited mobility after surgery or during treatment makes daily care difficult, making hygiene supplies — such as gloves, wipes, and skin care — absolutely essential.

🧡 The reality for families

War has already stripped many Ukrainian families of stability. When a child is in treatment, a parent often cannot work for months — sometimes years. For many, even basic care is now out of reach.

Many of these children have also been displaced. Some have parents defending Ukraine on the frontlines, others are in captivity, and some families are grieving unimaginable loss. 🕊️

📊 The need

Right now, around 200 children depend on this support to continue treatment safely.

Monthly cost per child:
💙 $100 AUD — medical nutrition
💛 $40 AUD — hygiene supplies

We are raising funds to ensure every child continues receiving this essential care — without interruption.

In moments like this, support is not abstract.

It is what allows a child in Ukraine to continue treatment.
– To regain strength.
– To keep going.

Please help them with a tax deductible donation to support a child’s needs for a month – https://www.ukrainecrisisappeal.org/
