Our wonderful Marta Kostyuk has made history – becoming the first Ukrainian woman to reach a French Open semifinal in the Open Era. What an incredible run!
Congratulations also to Elina Svitolina (quarterfinalist), Yuliia Starodubtseva, Oleksandra Oliynykova, Dayana Yastremska, and Dariya Snigur. Ukraine was well and truly at Roland Garros.
Extraordinary achievements, made more extraordinary by the circumstances in which our Ukrainian tennis players play – as their country continues to defend itself against a brutal, illegal russian invasion.
Many have used their global platform to speak about the impact on them, their families, their people and their sport. They have also challenged russian and belarusian players for remaining silent, refusing to condemn the invasion, and spreading propaganda through state-linked events and sponsorships.
