Each year on the third Thursday in May, Ukrainians around the world wear the vyshyvanka — the embroidered shirt that has carried Ukrainian identity, beauty, and resilience across generations and borders.
This year marks 20 years of this extraordinary global celebration — from one young woman in Chernivtsi encouraging her classmates to wear their embroidered shirts to university, to a movement spanning 70+ countries.
