More than 60 current and former members of the South Australian parliament have been added to a list of people banned from entering Russia due to a perceived “anti-Russian agenda”.
Minister Tom Koutsantonis, one of the MPs sanctioned in April 2024 said “I want to be on the right side of history and I think you could see it as a badge of honour.”
Mr Speirs said he was “proud of standing publicly with Ukraine in its fight against a tyrannical aggressor,” and that he “will not relent in providing unwavering bipartisan support to keep pressure on Russia’s leaders and ensure the plight of the Ukrainian people is kept in the public eye.”
The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) wholeheartedly agrees with these sentiments, and wants to sincerely thank all of the “Russian-banned” MPs for their outspoken support of Ukraine & human rights.
