After Sydney’s spectacular unfurling on Ukraine’s Independence Day, it was Queensland’s turn to make history – proudly unfurling the world’s largest Ukrainian flag in Brisbane!
This iconic flag – born in Ukraine in 2012 and recognised by the Book of Records of Ukraine – has travelled through cities that define Ukraine’s courage and resilience: Kyiv, Lviv, Mariupol, Odesa, Bakhmut, and now across the world, from Krakow to Washington, Sydney to Brisbane.
Speaking at the event, UCQ President, Peter Bongiorni reflected on the flag’s meaning: “It has flown in moments of triumph and liberation, carried by people who believe in a free and independent Ukraine. This flag is more than fabric. It is a living symbol of unity, resilience, and freedom.”
Huge congratulations to the Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc., volunteers, and supporters who made this possible – together, we’ve shown that even far from home, Ukraine lives in all of us.
Thank you to our partners at Razom for Ukraine for providing the flag to our sunny shores.
Слава Україні! ![]()
