Today, the US sanctioned russian oil giants Lukoil and Rosneft for their role in fuelling russia’s war machine.
Yesterday, the EU approved a new sanctions package, banning russian LNG imports. Last week, the UK imposed 90 oil sanctions on russia, including a ban on refined russian oil products from third countries.
Yet, shamefully, the Albanese Government has still not closed the sanctions loophole that allows the importation of fuel refined from russian crude in third countries – leading Australia to become the single largest importer of russian blood oil in the world.

It is a national disgrace that companies like BP Australia, Exxon-Mobil, and Ampol continue to import refined russian crude, laundered through countries like India.
We urge the Albanese Government to stand with our US, EU and UK allies, and close the sanctions loophole which allows the importation of blood oil.
As russia bombs cities and towns across Ukraine daily – including a kindergarten in Kharkiv overnight – it’s time to stop enabling russia’s war crimes.
