At the 2026 Paralympic Games, russia and belarus are set to compete under their national flags and anthems.
These flags represent regimes waging a genocidal war against Ukraine – destroying cities, bombing schools and kindergartens, and committing more than 160,000 registered war crimes.
Since the full-scale invasion began, more than 650 Ukrainian athletes and coaches have been killed by russia Ukrainian Paralympians train under air raid sirens and in damaged facilities.
The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) has written to the Australian Government urging it to support Ukraine’s global call to:
🚫 Reverse the International Paralympics Committee decision allowing russia & belarus to compete under their flags/anthems at the 2026 Paralympic Games
🚷🎖️ Ensure government officials do not attend the Opening Ceremony or other official events if the decision isn’t reversed
