The Ukrainian community in Geelong came out in force last weekend, united in protest against the arrival of russian fuel – fuel that indirectly finances attacks on Ukrainian civilians.
Supported by the AFUO and the #StopFuellingrussiasWar campaign team, the protest called on fuel companies to clean up their supply chains and urged the Albanese Government to close the russian sanctions loophole that has sent billions to the Kremlin since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Community member Oryssia Pryslak, who recently returned from a visit to Ukraine, said knowing Australian money is going back to russia gives her a sense of guilt.
“All these people in Ukraine are like ‘thank you so much for your help’. And in our backhand, we’re actually sliding more money over to russia… putting money into the pockets of people who are bombing civilians“, she told SBS News.
“It’s blood oil”, said Oryssia’s mother Luba, Committee member, Association of Ukrainians in Victoria – Geelong Branch.
