Yesterday, Kateryna Argyrou, Chair of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) presented evidence before the Senate committee examining the effectiveness of sanctions against the russian federation.
The AFUO was joined by Andriy Mencinsky, President of the Ukrainian Council of NSW – ОУГ НПВ).
Speaking on behalf of the Ukrainian community in Australia, Kateryna and Andriy made clear that the Albanese Government must close the blood oil loophole – which has funnelled an estimated $2.45 billion in tax revenue to the Kremlin, exceeding the $1.7 billion Australia has committed in aid to Ukraine.
