The AFUO is deeply saddened that a former Australian Army member, Matthew Jepson, has died whilst bravely fighting in the Avdiivka region last month.
We feel pain and sorrow that a young man, aged in his mid 20’s, has lost his life in this way. We pay respect to his bravery and honour his service and commitment to peace and security; he died protecting the lives and freedoms of others.
Our community also extends its deepest sympathy to Matthew’s family who will be facing immense grief and loss in the absence of a beloved family member. We will keep them in our prayers.
This is yet another reminder that Russia’s brutal war is continuing to exact a devastating toll on human life.
