The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has made an announcement regarding new offers of a temporary humanitarian stay for eligible Ukrainians in Australia.
The Minister must invite you to apply for the temporary humanitarian stay pathway. You cannot apply for this visa without an invitation.
The temporary humanitarian stay pathway is a two-step process. You will be granted a Humanitarian Stay (Temporary) (subclass 449) visa, followed by a Temporary Humanitarian Concern (subclass 786) visa. The subclass 786 visa will be valid for three years.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for an offer of temporary stay you must:
✅ be Ukrainian
✅ be in Australia holding a temporary visa
✅ have arrived in Australia before 31 July 2023
✅ be unable to return to your usual place of residence.
The Minister may also consider you for an offer if you are in Australia and are the immediate family member of someone who is eligible for the offer.

The AFUO will listen to community views on this decision and will convey them to the Government, to support ongoing discussions and policy recommendations.
The AFUO remains deeply committed to supporting displaced Ukrainians, and will continue to highlight unresolved issues, including:
✅ Exemptions from the Assurance of Support (AoS) requirement and the Newly Arrived Resident’s Waiting Period (NARWP) for 804 visa holders
✅ The need for a dedicated migration pathway for permanent residency for all displaced Ukrainians
The AFUO will provide updates as more information becomes available and will ensure the community’s voice is heard by the Government throughout this evolving process.

Міністр має запросити вас подати заяву на отримання Тимчасової гуманітарної візи. Без запрошення ви не можете подати заяву на цю візу.
Тимчасова гуманітарна віза – це двоетапний процес. Спочатку ви отримаєте візу «Humanitarian Stay (Temporary)» (підклас 449), а потім візу «Temporary Humanitarian Concern» (підклас 786). Віза підкласу 786 буде дійсна протягом трьох років.
