Oleksandr Khyzhniak, with his epic showdown in the men’s middleweight boxing final, lands another gold for Ukraine at the 2024 Paris Olympics!
In an exhilarating comeback from Tokyo-2021 silver medal, Khyzhniak’s determination paid off as he triumphed over Kazakhstan’s Nurbek Oralbay. This victory marks Ukraine’s third gold at these games!
Khyzhniak dedicated his medal to Ukraine, as have other athletes – their goal not only to compete at the Olympics, but to remind the world about Ukraine’s undefeatable spirit and resilience.
We also congratulate Illia Kovtun, for his silver medal in gymnastics (parallel bars), and Mykhaylo Kokhan, for winning a bronze medal in the hammer throw.
With only 140 athletes competing this year – the smallest ever in Ukraine’s Olympic history due to russia’s invasion – these incredible athletes carry a message of our nation’s “Will to Win – Воля до Перемоги”, the team’s official slogan for the Paris Games.
Tonight we will stay tuned to our Olympians in the finals and semi-finals of wrestling, canoeing, rhythmic gymnastics and sport climbing!
