The month of March saw our communities around Australia organise many events in honour of Ukraine’s great, national poet – Taras Shevchenko – an iconic symbol of Ukrainian national consciousness, pride and resistance!
Commemorative events, including concerts, poetry readings and lunches, were held by the Association of Ukrainians in Victoria, Association of Ukrainians in Noble Park, Association of Ukrainians of Western Australia, Association of Ukrainians in South Australia and Association of Ukrainians in Tasmania
The Malvy Literary Club of Australia, Ukrainian Women’s Association Victoria joined a world action and held the 10th annual Shevchenko Reading in the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. Highlights of the day included reading the words of the Kobzar in Ukrainian, English and French and an AI-generated dialogue between Shevchenko and Gogol if they had met at the age of 35!
Wonderful events celebrating Ukraine’s national bard – Taras Shevchenko – who continues to inspire us and express the dreams and aspirations of the Ukrainian people for freedom and liberty!
