Special Charity & Cultural Diplomacy Events at Otakoï Ukrainian Restaurant, Kyiv Social and the Canberra Museum & Gallery
This September, we are honoured to co-host events that will stir the soul. An experience that goes beyond food and drink, touching on the heart of Ukrainian identity, resilience, and artistry.
We are incredibly proud to welcome award-winning international barista Vadym Granovskiy to the Canberra Museum & Gallery in the nation’s capital, Kyiv Social in Sydney and Otakoï Ukrainian Restaurant in Melbourne for an exclusive lecture and tasting of his deeply symbolic signature coffee: Flat Red.
Join us on Saturday, 13th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Canberra Museum & Gallery in Canberra, Monday, 15th September from 5:00PM to 7:00pm at Kyiv Social, or on Friday, 19th September, from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Otakoï Ukrainian Restaurant for an unforgettable afternoon.
Seats are extremely limited for this intimate event, and all funds raised will be donated to the AFUO’s “Future Ukraine” tax-deductible humanitarian aid fund.
What is Flat Red?
Created by Vadym in Kyiv in 2016, Flat Red is a bold and beautiful new recipe combining rich espresso with the sharp, vibrant notes of pomegranate juice. It is a wonderful symphony of flavours – full of life, full of colour, and a powerful reflection of cultural identity. It is, in many ways, the bitter-sweet taste of modern Ukraine in a cup.
More Than a Drink: A Story of Culture
As Vadym explains, Flat Red is a personal crusade to showcase and amplify Ukrainian culture.
“The red is for love and the black is for sorrow,” says Vadym, referencing the eternal symbolism of Ukrainian folklore and the traditional embroidered patterns of our garments. “There is something so powerful about sharing what we create – not to impress, but to connect. I talk to the world through the language of coffee.”
The Experience
During this special session, Vadym will enlighten and entertain, revealing the fascinating stories of how coffee intersects with pivotal moments in Ukrainian history and has helped shape our identity. This moving lecture will be followed by a tasting of his signature Flat Red coffee.
This is a unique opportunity to connect with a world-class Ukrainian artist and understand our culture on a deeper level.
