The AFUO welcomes the latest sanctions announced by Foreign Minister Senator Penny Wong, targeting 37 individuals and 7 entities linked to russia’s war machine — across the defence, finance, energy, transport, and disinformation sectors.

Among them:
- The Board of Sovcomflot (russia’s largest shipping company)
- Executives at Gazprom Neft (3rd largest russian oil producer)
- Leaders at Gazprombank (key financier for russian oil & gas industry)
These sanctions are another step forward. But more must be done to truly cut off Putin’s war funding.
Australia still imports refined fuel made from russian crude oil.
An estimated $1.85 billion in Aussie fuel taxes have ended up in russia since 2023 — more than all our aid to Ukraine combined.
This has to stop.

We also thank Deputy PM & Defence Minister Richard Marles for committing an E-7A Wedgetail aircraft + 100 ADF personnel to support Ukraine.
Let’s stand united. Let’s shut down every dollar fuelling Putin’s invasion.
