Progress report 19-25 May
Rotary Club presentation – it was a pleasure to attend the Mosman Rotary Club lunch as a guest speaker. I provided an update on our community’s advocacy, fundraising efforts as well as feedback from my recent trip to Ukraine. AFUO Director of Humanitarian Aid, Diahanna Senko, also provided an update on her trip to Ukraine and accepted a cheque for $5,550 which was donated to the Ukraine Crisis Appeal. Grateful to Co-President Halyna Koscharsky for the invitation, hospitality, and support!
Sky News interview – grateful to Rhiannon Elston for the invitation to discuss Ukraine on Sky News. We covered important topics such as the historic prisoner of war swap, peace talks, President Zelenskyy’s meeting with Australian PM Anthony Albanese, and why our community continues to advocate for military aid for Ukraine.
National Air Force University presentation – had the opportunity to present at the National Conference on “Modern War: Humanitarian Aspect”. Topics covered were Australia’s support for Ukraine and our community’s advocacy efforts in support of Ukraine’s brave defenders. Grateful to Oleksandr Makienko for the introduction.
Ukrainian Bookshelf – His Excellency Mr Vasyl Myroshnychenko, Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia, together with his charming wife Liana Myroshnychenko, launched the “Ukrainian Bookshelf” in the historic Shakespeare Room of The State Library of New South Wales. It was a very special event, supported by representatives from all levels of Australian government.
#StandWithUkraine rally – attended community rally in support of Ukraine. Continue to raise awareness about russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Coordination calls – engaged in regular strategy and planning calls with the Defend Ukraine Appeal team and the 2025 Independence Day committee.
