Progress report 5-11 May:
Trip to Geelong – this weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting Geelong for the first time. I was honoured to be joined by our brave defenders Viktor “Blacksmith” and Nazar “Kapa”. Our Ukrainians in Geelong – Українці в Джілонґу community may be small, but they are mighty! Grateful to Mark Tkaczuk for helping organise a community meeting at Ukrainian House on Friday and at church on Sunday. Thank you to Wally Rava and Fr Myroslav Vons for hosting.
Mama’s Market took place on Saturday in Geelong and was an impressive display of everything Ukrainian – thank you to the Geelong Ukrainian Women’s Association for organising such an impressive event and raising much needed funds for Ukraine – well done, all!
Defend Ukraine Appeal – this week we delivered a much-needed evacuation vehicle to the brave defenders of the 37th Brigade currently defending Donetsk region. We were also able to deliver reconnaissance drones – the Ukrainian Women’s Association sponsored a drone that was delivered to Liliya, a servicewoman from the National Guard of Ukraine and a drone with an image of “Heartlands” was delivered to the 95th Air Assault Brigade. Special thank you to our Tetiana Koldunenko for the drawings. Grateful to our community for supporting our frontline heroes!
AFUO Board meeting – this week’s Board meeting focused on governance and conflicts of interest. Grateful to Dr Derek Lundberg for providing his valuable counsel.
Coordination calls – held weekly coordination calls with the Independence Day 2025 planning co+mmittee, strategy, and DUA. Also provided support to our Ukrainian veterans currently in Australia as well as our QLD community.
