In a powerful interview on ABC News last week, AFUO Co-Chair Kateryna Argyrou spoke about her recent visit to Ukraine and strongly endorsed the decision by the Biden administration to allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles supplied by the US to strike military targets inside russian territory.
As explained by Kateryna, the decision was a ‘long time coming’ and had been advocated for by our community. 🇺🇦 Ukrainians have been forced to fight with one hand tied behind their back, whilst Russia has continued to launch large-scale attacks on cities across Ukraine, killing innocent civilians and devastating electricity infrastructure prior to winter.
Kateryna also spoke about her time in Sumy delivering aid and visiting family, the mood amongst frontline defenders, the need for any ‘peace deal’ to restore Ukraine’s sovereign territory and free the occupied territories, and the significant escalation by russia of preparing North Korean troops to fight against Ukraine.
“Hopefully those listening, can put themselves in the place of Ukrainians, and understand the daily grief and anxiety, the immense emotional trauma. But this is something that can be stopped. All it takes is political will,” concluded Kateryna.
