A powerful collection of photographs of Ukrainian displaced people, forced to flee their homes in Ukraine and now seeking refuge in Melbourne, will be exhibited this weekend by Daniel Hassett, a professional photographer.
Daniel, who was raised within the local Melbourne Ukrainian community, has been meeting with new arrivals to talk about their experiences escaping their homes, many under gunfire from occupied areas of Ukraine, and the ongoing challenges they face in Australia. Some have lost loved ones, all of them still have people dear to them in Ukraine.
As in Ukraine, Daniel joins the many artists and creatives who have used their passion and skills to reflect the Ukrainian lived experience as a result of Russia’s brutal invasion – but also to show the hope and resilience of Ukrainians.
Don’t miss this moving exhibition.
