We are grateful to Senator Jonno Duniam, Federal Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, for backing our #NoBloodInOurPool campaign and standing with the Ukrainian Australian community.
Senator Duniam has called for russian water polo players seeking entry to Australia for the World Aquatics Water Polo World Cup Finals 2026 to be subjected to “the toughest security and visa checks” – and has stated that there should be “no platform for the use of russia’s flag or other national propaganda.”
We agree completely. A national team competing under its flag and anthem is not simply a sporting delegation – it is a representation of the regime itself. A regime that is bombing Ukrainian cities every single day, killing civilians, destroying homes, playgrounds, schools and ancient churches, and committing war crimes.

We urge the Anthony Albanese Government to match the Coalition’s resolve. Australia should not become a platform for normalising russia’s continuing illegal, genocidal aggression against Ukraine, or allow its principled support for Ukraine to be undermined.
If you haven’t already – write to Water Polo Australia and our Government leaders now (it takes 2 clicks & less than 2 minutes): https://standwithukraine.good.do/waterpolo/
