As the brutal and illegal full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine completes its seventh month, the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) has written to the ACT Ukrainian community to formally thank them for their daily protests, held outside the Russian embassy in Griffith.
The message will be read out today by Marusia Jaszychyn to the protesters:
Rev Father, members of the Canberra and Queanbeyan communities!
We have now seen seven months of Russian brutality on Ukrainian soil. Seven months of Putin and his collaborators, including Kiril, breaking every international convention, murdering, raping, and committing war crimes.
We have also seen that for seven months, members of the ACT Ukrainian community, friends from other communities and the broader Australian community have stood outside the embassy of the tyrant, the Russian embassy, to send a strong message – Ukraine will win. We will not allow Ukraine fatigue to set in. You are champions who reflect Ukraine’s resilience.
