This week, Australia’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Geoff Bowan, from Australian Embassy, Ukraine visited the Lviv Clinical Centre of Children’s Healthcare, where he saw firsthand the impact of Australian generosity.
While visiting to mark an Australian Government Direct Aid Program grant supporting Tabletochki, the Ambassador also met with Dr Mykhailo Lovha, Head of the Paediatric Neurosurgery Clinic, to learn about the Ukraine Crisis Appeal‘s ongoing support for children requiring life-saving treatment.

Dr Lovha shared how the generosity of UCA donors, together with our partners at RAWCS – Rotary Australia World Community Service and the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO), has helped equip the hospital with advanced neurosurgical equipment that is improving outcomes for children every day. One of the major pieces of equipment funded by UCA can be seen in the background of this photo.
The Ambassador was deeply impressed by both the scale and the continuity of Australia’s support, seeing the equipment in daily use and hearing directly from the medical team about the difference it continues to make.
Moments like these remind us that every donation has a lasting impact. Together, we are strengthening paediatric neurosurgery and oncology services in Ukraine and helping give children access to the care they deserve.
Thank you to every donor, volunteer and partner who has made this possible. Your compassion continues to save lives and bring hope to families facing unimaginable challenges.
