Komyshuvakha: 53 innocent people killed by russia while collecting humanitarian aid. Write to your MP about this heinous war crime today.
On 2 November, russian forces bombed the village school in Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, where residents gathered every week to receive aid. When people fled to a shelter, russia dropped nine more bombs on it.
53 people are confirmed dead, and dozens are still missing. They were grandparents, parents and neighbours who had come seeking aid. Among them were two rescuers and a military medic who ran towards the first blast to help the wounded. Each of them had a family now grieving, and a life that should not have ended this way.
This is one of the deadliest single attacks on Ukrainian civilians since the full-scale russian invasion began. The Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights has condemned it, warning that such suffering must never be normalised.
Please write to your federal MP and Senators. Ask the Australian Government to publicly condemn this attack and increase military assistance to Ukraine, including air defence to help it protect its skies.
