Congratulations to the Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc. (UCQ) for an action-packed month of festivals, awards and advocacy!
The Ukrainian Festival Brisbane 2026 – attended by thousands and widely covered in the media – showcased Ukrainian culture, delicious food, a fantastic line-up of live music and performances, and even featured a video message from the Governor-General of Australia Sam Mostyn AC!
Festival-goers were also honoured by the presence of Lieutenant Viktoriia Savkiv of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who was in Australia to help our community mark 35 years of Ukraine’s restored independence.
A huge congratulations to everyone involved in putting on this year’s outstanding festival!
As part of the Queensland Government’s Multicultural Queensland Month, UCQ board members and community also marched in multicultural parades, attended dinners, festivals and awards nights throughout the month of August.
UCQ received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Queensland Premier David Crisafulli MP, and UCQ President Peter Bongiorni was honoured with a Community Leadership Award at the Bhartiya Samaj Migrant Expo.
