Award-winning Ukrainian short film “In Her Arms” (В її обіймах) comes to MIFF
The Ukrainian short film “In Her Arms” (В її обіймах) (directed by Roman Volosevych) makes its Australian premiere at one one of the world’s most iconic film festivals – the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIIF) – the only Ukrainian film in this year’s program.
After a win at Seville International Film Festival and screenings across Portugal and Spain, this suspenseful and powerful 20-minute story follows a couple returning home after russian occupation, only to find a tripwire left behind — a quiet, chilling symbol of the evil occupying forces leave behind, even after they’re gone.
In addition to international recognition, participation in MIFF opens up the opportunity for the film to compete for Oscar-qualifying status: should it win in the competition program, the film will be included on the Oscar longlist in the short film category.
