On Anzac Day, we pay our deepest respects to Australians and New Zealanders who have served in times of peace and war – including Ukrainian-Australians who have served with distinction across generations in defence of the freedoms we cherish.
Their service reflects the enduring Anzac values of courage, sacrifice, endurance and mateship.
On this day, we also remember and pray for the brave defenders of Ukraine – standing for their nation’s freedom and sovereignty in the face of russia’s brutal and illegal invasion.
Among them are Australians who have chosen to serve alongside Ukrainian defenders – we thank them for their courage and conviction.
We also honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice defending Ukraine – they will forever be heroes – and we share in the deep sorrow and anguish of their families.
