AFUO Chair Kateryna Argyrou officially welcomed as Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Sydney at the Parliament of NSW
Earlier this month, community leaders, political leaders, the NSW Consular Corps, investors and journalists marked a special moment for Ukraine-Australia relations: the official ceremony for the re-launch of the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Sydney.
As both Chair of the AFUO and now Honorary Consul, Kateryna will play a pivotal role in strengthening investment, trade, tourism, cultural exchange, and NSW’s engagement in Ukraine’s reconstruction and post-war recovery. Her leadership ensures Ukraine’s voice remains strong at every table.
The AFUO extends our sincere gratitude to:
Hon Ben Franklin, President of the NSW Legislative Council, for hosting this special event in the beautiful Jubilee Room of the NSW Parliament.
Hon Matt Thistlethwaite MP, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration, for representing the Australian Government and expressing steadfast support for Ukraine.
HE Vasyl Myroshnychenko, Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia, for his leadership and support.
His Eminence Cardinal Mykola Bychok for offering a profound prayer for peace.
Hon Greg Piper MLA, Speaker of the NSW Legislative Assembly; Hon Mark Coure MP, Shadow Minister for Multiculturalism; and representatives of the NSW Consular Corps (including the UK, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Japan, Finland, Portugal, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Canada, Poland, Ireland).
MPs, diplomats, investors, journalists, community leaders – including our Baltic friends – and the many supporters of Ukraine who joined us.
President of the National Council of Women NSW Leshia Bubniuk, for her outstanding job as MC.
Ukrainian community members and active volunteers who attended.
The unity, goodwill, and commitment in the room were inspiring. This moment reflects the strength of our community and the deepening partnership between our nations.
Together, we continue the work ahead: building partnerships, shaping investment pathways, and ensuring Ukraine’s future remains bright, open, and free.
Slava Ukraini!
