The AFUO expresses its deepest condolences on the tragic loss of Andriy Parubiy, a tireless defender of Ukraine’s sovereignty, democracy, and European future.

Andriy Parubiy was murdered in Lviv on 30 August by an unidentified gunman; Ukrainian authorities have launched a murder investigation, and police have detained a suspect. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family, friends, and loved ones during this time of profound grief.
From the Orange Revolution to Euromaidan, Andriy Parubiy stood at the forefront of Ukraine’s struggle against Russian aggression and attempted domination. He served as Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada from 2016 – 2019 and Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council during russia’s aggression in Crimea and eastern Ukraine in 2014.
His courage and commitment will remain an enduring symbol of unity and freedom.
The AFUO joins the Ukrainian World Congress – Свiтовий Конґрес Українців in supporting efforts to deliver justice and protect those who dedicate their lives to serving society and defending democracy.
