In a special fundraising solo world tour ‘Help For Ukraine’, Slava Vakarchuk, Okean Elzy front man, visited Australia and sent warm wishes to Ukrainian defenders, alongside AFUO leadership & the Ukrainian-Australian diaspora!
“I personally want to say that here in Australia, thousands of kilometres from Ukraine, people are thinking about us, they are helping, and are continuing to do everything possible,” he says.
Slava is not only one of Ukraine’s most beloved musicians, he is also a true patriot with a long history of fighting to strengthen and protect Ukraine’s democracy and independence. He is a civic activist and former member of Ukraine’s Parliament. Since the full-scale invasion, he has joined the Territorial Defence Forces and travelled across the country playing for troops, lifting their morale.
The ‘Help for Ukraine’ world tour is launching Okean Elzy’s new song ‘Lighthouse’. The tour aims to fundraise for 30 fully-equipped ambulances to assist Ukrainian defenders on the frontline.
In a conscious effort to spread as much awareness and support for Ukraine’s cause as possible, the band decided to compose ‘Lighthouse’ in English. We highly encourage everyone to share the song with their Aussie family and friends!
