The AFUO warmly congratulates Ukrainian Council of NSW – ОУГ НПВ for a successful and vibrant “October Family Fest – Heartbeats of Ukraine” which took place at Steyne Park, Sydney on Sunday, 27 October.
Over 700 people attended a celebratory day of Ukrainian culture, cuisine, dance, bandura, traditional songs, and fun activities for the whole family. The festivities attracted many locals passing by and ABC and SBS media coverage (check out our AFUO Newsroom).
Attendees heard from Viktor “Blacksmith”, a Ukrainian defender who recently underwent osseointegration surgery in Australia to prepare him for his new prosthetic legs. This life-changing operation will give Viktor the chance to walk again. Support Viktor via the AFUO’s Future Ukraine fund: https://futureukraine.org.au/events/viktor-blacksmith/
Attendees also warmly thanked and acknowledged the Albanese Government and Minister Tony Burke for offering permanent residency to 786 displaced Ukrainian visa holders.
Congratulations to everyone involved in organising, coordinating and volunteering for the various stalls, performances and activities.
And a massive thank you to the Woollahra Council and Mayor Sarah Swan! On behalf of the Ukrainian community, we sincerely thank you for your support and hospitality.
Well done Ukrainian Council of NSW – ОУГ НПВ!
