Our first Australian Ukraine Crisis Appeal convoy of ambulances has been delivered to Lviv, Ukraine!
Partnering with UK-based Medical Life Lines Ukraine, project leader Chris Leptos AO and a team of self-funded volunteers drove from London to Lviv where they delivered four ambulances to the Ministry of Health in Ukraine in late November 2023. The ambulances were then distributed to hospitals close to the front line in Ukraine. Read Chris’ report here and the media story here.
Having raised an awesome AU$160k for the Ukraine Needs Ambulances campaign, the Ukraine Crisis Appeal was also able to load the ambulances to the brim with lifesaving supplies/equipment to the value of AU$107k.
We extend a sincere thanks to the Association of Ukrainians in South Australia (AUSA) for their generous donation of AU$13k towards the cost of one ambulance!
In August this year, the Ukraine Crisis Appeal also funded the supply of four medi-vac vehicles to Ukraine at a cost of AU$60k. These vehicles are imperative to saving lives as they can access terrain which an ambulance cannot, and can deliver the injured to an ambulance.
In 2024, the Ukraine Crisis Appeal is planning its next ambulance convoy in March and will seek to fund a crane for a brave Ukrainian rescue team. Cranes are essential to saving lives, where buildings have been bombed and rubble needs to be moved quickly to save those that are trapped. These start at around AU$140k.
The Ukraine Crisis Appeal has been providing critical aid to Ukraine since 2015. This has only been possible through your generous donations and support, for which we are most grateful. Let’s keep working together in 2024!
