AFUO welcomes new team members

The Board of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) would like to extend a very warm welcome to the new members of our team! The AFUO is grateful for the support provided by the Australian Government and the Migration Council of Australia (MCA).

Liana Slipetsky – National Community Liaison

Liana is the President of the Noble Park Branch of the Association of Ukrainians in Victoria (AUV) and has been an active member of the Ukrainian community in Melbourne her entire life.

She graduated from Melbourne University majoring in English Literature and East Slavic Language & Literature and worked as a journalist for the SBS Ukrainian program. She is a Licensed Estate Agent and ran her own property management business for over 13 years.

Her focus is now on working for the Ukrainian cause both here in the diaspora and Ukraine.



Olga Voronina – Project Manager

Olga has over 10 years’ experience in finance, covering mortgage lending and insolvency.

She is a co-founder and director of ArtOn Lab – a company specialising in 3D visualisations and VR applications for real estate, education and healthcare.

Olga was born in Ukraine and moved to Australia in 2005. She graduated from Saarland University (Germany). She is a member of the AFUO Humanitarian Aid Committee.



Olena Kulyk – Project Manager

Olena Kulyk has a background in law and early childhood education.

Olena was born in Ukraine, and moved to Australia 11 years ago. She graduated with honours at the Academy of Advocacy of Ukraine and worked as a lecturer at various universities in Ukraine. Her area of law specialisation is Environmental law and Employment law. Since moving to Australia, she has decided to follow her passion of helping children grow to their full potential and obtained a Diploma in Early Childhood education. She has experience in inclusive education to help children achieve their best learning outcome and is currently working as an educator at various preschools in the North Shore.

Olena is a proactive member of the Ukrainian community in Sydney. She believes that a strong community should be built on mutual respect, effective communication, transparency and inclusivity.



Roman “Chiffa” Kulish – IT Support

Roman is an IT professional with over 20 years industry experience, working with the World’s leading brands and companies such as World Bank, Nokia, PC Tools, Symantec, eBay, News Corp Australia, Transport For NSW. Principal software engineer and architect.

Roman was born in Ukraine and in 2009 he moved to Australia.

In 2014, Roman joined the Ukrainian cyber force and focused on developing online services and helping organisations in Ukraine to protect their web resources and to counter hacker attacks. In February 2022, he rejoined his former cybersecurity team in Ukraine.

In his volunteering capacity, Roman assists with IT workstream to the team of volunteers behind ukrainians.org.au and the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO).



Alexander Polyanovskyi – IT Support

Alexander was born in Kyiv in 1976. Spent one year in the US on a school exchange program. Came to Australia at the end of 1995. Graduated from UNSW as a Software Engineer. Professional profile can be found here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexander-polyanovskyi-1023b0176/.

Alexander has over 20 years of experience working in the IT industry in Australia. He is currently a Senior Software Developer at WiseTech Global.

Alexander is fluent enough in English, Ukrainian, and Russian. He has quite a few IT skills and general interests, for instance, theatre, literature, other creative pursuits :-).
