The Ukrainian community of Canberra held a rally on 18th February, 2014 as part of the world-wide campaign by the Ukrainian diaspora supporting the EuroMaidan movement in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.
EuroMaidan started as a protest movement against the last-minute decision by the Yanukovych regime to abandon the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union, then progressed to a vehement disapproval of the signing of a series of laws severely curtailing civil liberties and political rights in Ukraine.
