
Roman Kulish brings a deep and personal commitment to serving the Ukrainian-Australian community, a dedication rooted in his strong family connections to Ukraine, despite being a resident of Australia since 2009. He is an active member of the diaspora, including the Australia-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce (AUCC).
With a 27-year career in technology, Roman brings a broad range of experience. His career spans from founding a web studio and serving as CTO for startups to holding leadership positions with global organisations like the World Bank, Nokia, Symantec, Transport for NSW government agency, and News Corp.
In recent years, Roman has leveraged his expertise to directly support Ukraine, dedicating his technical skills to research and development for frontline brigades across software, electronics, and drone systems. This hands-on commitment extends to his direct contributions to the AFUO’s digital presence in Australia. He has been instrumental in the maintenance and improvement of the main AFUO website, the Ukraine Crisis Appeal, and the development and management of key platforms like Project Sunflower, Defend Ukraine Appeal, and Future Ukraine. He has also built online services to assist Ukrainian refugees.
As the new IT Director for the AFUO, Roman is passionate about leveraging technology to ensure the organisation’s digital landscape is secure, effective, and fully equipped to support the vital work of the community now and into the future. He is committed to strategic planning and collaboration, working to identify new opportunities where technology can further the AFUO’s mission.
