Krispy Kreme South Australia will be selling a ‘Peace in Ukraine’ blue and yellow doughnut during the last week of March in all 8 Krispy Kreme South Australian stores to help raise awareness and funds to donate to the Australian-Ukrainian community’s Ukraine Crisis Appeal.
A flash mob of Ukrainian dancers, dressed in Ukrainian ‘vyshyvanka’ (blouses and shirts) and costume, will appear at the Krispy Kreme store in West Croydon at 6pm, to perform briefly and take their first bites of the ‘Peace in Ukraine’ doughnut.
‘Like many, we are heartbroken and worried about the war in Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis it has generated. We plan to donate 100% of the proceeds of our Peace in Ukraine doughnut to the Ukraine Crisis Appeal. On top of this, we will use our social media channels to raise awareness and encourage our fans and consumers to make extra donations to the Ukraine Crisis Appeal,’ said Mr Juan Briceno, a Krispy Kreme representative.
‘Being a good business and knowing the impact of your business on society is more than just a box ticking exercise. Krispy Kreme has shown that it’s got a good heart – and that they can incorporate their values into their business practices and provide support for much needed humanitarian aid for Ukraine,’ said Ms Diahanna Senko, Director, Humanitarian Aid Initiatives and Chair, Ukraine Crisis Appeal & U-Help, charity arms of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations.
‘The humanitarian crisis in Ukraine is Europe’s biggest since the Second World War. Around 3 million have been forced to flee the country, and at least 2 million more are displaced within the country. Another 13 million have been affected in the areas hit hardest by the war.
‘Contributions which are made to the Ukraine Crisis Appeal will provide safe shelter, food and medical assistance to the millions of Ukrainians who have been displaced by the war. In collaboration with Rotary International and Caritas Ukraine, we have been providing humanitarian assistance since 2014, when Russia first invaded Ukraine,’ said Ms Senko.
‘The support provided by everyday Australians and businesses such as Krispy Kreme is important, and really appreciated by the Australian-Ukrainian community. Besides financially assisting with humanitarian needs, these small but meaningful actions show that the world stands with Ukraine and Ukrainians living in Australia,’ said Ms Senko.
