Ukraine Crisis Appeal: Your money at work – 1st stage report.

December 26, 2019 by CYOA

The is the first stage funding report from the Ukraine Crisis Appeal committee. You can read the whole report by clicking here. This report includes detail about the Ukrainians who were helped.

Background for the first stage of funding:

In 2018, $128,000 AUD was raised by the fund. This enabled the Veteran Program to support 25 Veterans and their families (approximately 100 people) on the journey for a better life. With the aim of a holistic care program, an in depth assessment was completed by Caritas Ukraine qualified case workers to identify each of the Veterans specific needs. These otherwise would not have been fulfilled due to financial circumstances, ineligibility for support from the state, as well as the lack of specialised treatment in their cities or villages.

What types of care were provided?

How does the appeal itself work? Who are the partners?

Partners of the Ukraine Crisis Appeal

Rotary Australia World Community Service has accepted the Ukraine Crisis Appeal as a charitable fund and thus, all donations are granted a tax-deductible status. AFUO – Humanitarian Aid Initiatives Committee (HAIC), identify needs, evaluate or develop programs, set define goals, guidelines, KPIs, reporting schedules and check ins for the nominated program. Once satisfied, they advise AFUO & recommend RAWCS release funds to CARITAS UKRAINE who implement the program / or pass on financial support to the nominated program. Caritas Ukraine take financial responsibility for the project, its execution, management and providing regular progress reports back to AFUO – HAIC.

What’s happening next?

As you may have read in the report, there are three key projects supported by the appeal. This includes the Veteran Program, an Occupational Therapy Training Program and the Emergency First Responder Program. The Ukraine Crisis Appeal is now focusing on funding on the Occupational Therapy Training Program, with $105,000 needing to be raised by the end of January 2020, for this program to go ahead.
