Over the weekend of the 8th-9th of June, members of the Ukrainian Catholic church travelled to Canberra to participate in the Eparchial Pilgrimage to the @Ukrainian Catholic Church Parish of Saint Volodymyr.
“In the middle of the busy Australian life, we made an important decision — we came to the national pilgrimage. In this way, we show ourselves and others who is our priority today — our Lord Jesus Christ and His Most Holy Mother,” said Bishop Mykola Bychok.
This year’s motto for the pilgrimage is the prayer “Holy Mother of God, save us.”
Since ancient times, the icon of the Mother of God has been addressed for healing from blindness, incurable diseases and for the liberation of captives, among many other prayers of intercession. The motto of the pilgrimage is a fitting tribute to direct our prayers to the healing of the wounded, for the recovery of the sick, protection against enemy invasion, for the comfort of the lonely, the liberation of captives and for peace in Ukraine and the world.
