Dr Michael Lawriwsky on The Australian and Sky News urges Ukraine’s allies to understand that Putin will not sign anything that respects Ukraine’s security and sovereignty – until russia is defeated militarily.
Dr Lawriwsky reminds of the horrific reality of russian imperialism, it’s objective goal is the “total capitulation of the whole of Ukraine, which would result in a genocide of the Ukrainian nation through executions, filtration camps and elimination of the Ukrainian language and culture,” he writes in the Australian.
Andrei Illarionov, formerly Putin’s chief economic adviser, is of the view that the only way russia will enter a negotiation in good faith with Ukraine is if it is defeated militarily.
A pseudo-negotiation that gives Putin what he wants without strong security guarantees for Ukraine would make its economic revival impossible and would lead only to more war later.
One thing is clear: negotiations won’t work until russia is forced to back down by a strong, united international front. For Ukraine, surrender isn’t an option – it’s about survival.
