Peter Bongiorni is the Board Secretary of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations and President of the Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc. A proud Ukrainian-Australian, Peter is passionate about community-building, cultural preservation, and strong, effective advocacy for Ukrainians across Australia.
Peter has served on the Management Committee of the Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc. (UCQ) since 2017, including 6 years as UCQ’s Treasurer and has held the role of President since 2021. During his tenure as President, UCQ has seen a period of revitalisation and strategic growth, with Peter leading major community events, securing grant funding, deepening government and media engagement, and advancing long-term plans for financial and organisational sustainability. His leadership has focused on increasing membership, strengthening partnerships, and elevating the Ukrainian voice in Queensland’s multicultural landscape.
Peter was the recipient of the Queensland Minister’s Multicultural Award in 2023 and was honoured to serve as an Australia Day Ambassador in 2025. He is also an experienced community spokesperson and public speaker, having delivered keynote remarks and represented the Ukrainian community at major civic, cultural, and industry events.
Professionally, Peter is a senior leader in Australia’s PropTech sector. With more over 14 years of experience in commercial operations, sales, and customer success across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, he is known for his strategic thinking, people-first leadership, and commitment to helping organisations grow through partnership and innovation.
Peter plays a key role in connecting local, state, and national efforts to support the Ukrainian diaspora, while actively fostering partnerships across all levels of government, media, civil society, and multicultural networks.
