The Queen’s Birthday 2011 Honours List Announcement

The Queen’s Birthday 2011 Honours List was announced today by the Governor-General.  The list provides national and formal recognition for many Australians across the nation who have made a significant difference to their communities.

Included in this year’s Honours List was the following entry:

Name: TYRAWSKI-RADYWYL, Natalie
Award: Medal of the Order of Australia
Post-nominal: OAM
Date granted: 13 June 2011
State: NSW
Suburb: Bowral
Postcode: 2576
Country: Australia
Citation: For service to the Ukrainian community as an artistic director and choreographer of traditional dance.

 

Short bio of Natalie Tarawski-Radywyl:

  • Artistic Director and Choreographer, Veselka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble (previously the Ukrainian National Ballet), Sydney, 1952-1997; tour of Canada and the USA (1980s) and Ukraine (1991).
  • Performed at the United Nations.
  • Performed regularly at the Shell Folkoric Festivals at the Sydney Opera House, 1970s.
  • Performed at a range of festivals, clubs, television appearances and functions throughout Australia.
  • Choreographer, Zahrava Youth Dance Group, for 10 years.
  • Involved with the Cabramatta School of Ukrainian Dancing, Ukrainian Dance Academy, Taissa Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, and the Cym Ukrainian Youth Association.
  • Producer and announcer, Ukrainian Radio Program, 2EA and SBS Radio, 1979-1989.
