Following discussions with the Minister for Immigration and by working closely with the Department of Home Affairs (DHA), the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) is pleased to announce further visa support for Ukrainians in Australia.
“The Australian Government is continuing to support Ukrainians and their immediate family members in Australia by providing access to additional visa pathways. Ukrainian nationals who arrive on a temporary visa and are unable to access any further visa options and cannot return to Ukraine, may apply for a Bridging E (subclass 050) visa or a Protection (subclass 866) visa.”
The AFUO welcomes the Minister’s understanding of the various nuances associated with Ukrainian Displaced Persons (DPs) and their families.
In discussion with the Minister, the AFUO actively tried to point out the day-to-day issues which confront those applying or those who have temporarily made Australia home. Thank you to the 600+ individuals who participated in a recent survey launched by the AFUO and for sharing their personal stories, this helped us communicate with the Minister and DHA.
It is important that the dialogue between the Minister and the AFUO continues. The war continues in Ukraine and there will continue to be those who are fleeing.
The AFUO encourages our community structures to disseminate this information and hold an information session with DHA to explain the content. The AFUO also reinforces the message that to ensure this program has credibility, it must not be abused – the focus of the program is to reunite families.

Громадяни України, які прибувають по тимчасовій візі та не мають доступу до будь-яких інших типів віз і не можуть повернутися в Україну, можуть подати заяву на Bridging E візу (підклас 050) або Protection візу (підклас 866).
«Ми хочемо запевнити як тих, хто перебуває наразі тут, так і тих, хто перебуває за межами країни, що ці люди можуть продовжувати проживати в австралійській громаді доти, доки їм це потрібно, за допомогою низки варіантів короткострокових і довгострокових віз».
«Візи для українців і надалі будуть оформлятися як пріоритетні», – сказав міністр Джайлз.
Додаткова підтримка буде доступна для українців та їхніх сімей, які вирішили подати документи на Bridging E візу або Protection візу. Залежно від типу запитуваної та наданої візи, це може включати право на отримання особою Medicare, права на роботу або права подати заявку на отримання прав на роботу, навчання дітей в державних школах за рахунок держави, і доступ до безкоштовних послуг перекладачів.
