Continuing on from the success of last year’s International Plast Lesh Tabir (Ski Camp), we’reorganising our second official National Plast Ski Camp from 18-25 September 2010 at Mount Hotham in Victoria. Staying at the Ukrainian Ski Lodge “Kalyna”, this will be similar in format to the Plast annual summer camp with one big difference – snow! Participants will engage in snowsports by day and then retire to Kalyna for traditional tabir activities, dinner and vatry. Night skiing is also planned, which was enjoyed by all last year!
“We had an excellent attendance at Lesh Tabir 2009, with participants from Australia, Germany and USA making it an international camp,” said Plast president Philip Botté. “The ski camp is based on a great model where Plast instructors actually teach the kids how to ski in the morning, then participants consolidate what they learned during supervised free skiing in the afternoons and finally finish up at the lodge for dinner and Plast activities in the evenings – it’s a really great family tabir!”
“If you’ve ever wanted to learn to ski, then this is the Plast camp for you!
(Just ask Fedzy…)”
It doesn’t matter what skiing ability you are. The Camp is open to all plastuny and parents, with the aim of getting kids onto snow and developing their skiing or snowboarding skills whilst having a heap of fun. A professional Buller ski instructor himself, starshyi plastun Adrian Magalas is again heading up a team of experienced Plast skiing and snowboarding instructors to take daily lessons for beginners up to competent skiers. One of our graduates from last year, starshyi plastun Andrij Fedyczyn (Fedzy), who had never skied before in his life even went on to ski the Austrian slopes at the 2010 Plast Germany Lesh Tabir! With a heap of snow and traditional tabir activities planned, this camp is sure to be a highlight!
