The Ukrainian News Agency reports that Australia’s Foreign Minister, Kevin Rudd, is to visit Ukraine this year, to be followed by a reciprocal visit by his Ukrainian counterpart, Kostiantyn Hryschenko. The text of the news item is as follows:
Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd is ready to pay an official visit to Ukraine in 2011, the Department of Information Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine informs.
He said this in the meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Kostiantyn Hryschenko within the framework of the Munich Conference on Security Policy on February 4.
The foreign ministers discussed urgent issues of Ukrainian – Australian relations, in particular, prospects of bilateral political dialogue, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, and development of a contractual legal framework of bilateral ties.
Special attention was paid to international issues of mutual interest, as well as to the state and prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and Australia in the framework of international organizations.
Hryschenko and Rudd agreed to draw up and coordinate a plan of actions between the foreign ministries and to approve it during Rudd’s visit to Ukraine.
In his turn, Hryschenko took up Rudd’s invitation to pay an official visit to Australia.
As Ukrainian News reported, Viktor Yanukovych is sure of further improvement and development of Ukrainian – Australia cooperation.
Ukraine and Australia intend to conduct talks on simplifying visa regime between the two nations.
