Thank you to everyone who took part in Vyshyvanka Day this year, 16 May 2024. While Australia is a long way from Ukraine, the Ukrainian spirit is never diminished.
Initiated by a Chernivtsi National University student, Lesia Voroniuk, in 2006, Vyshyvanka Day has quickly become a beloved unofficial holiday to honour our rich culture, heritage and national identity.
Vyshyvanka Day now has a special significance for those living in Ukraine and diaspora around the world as Ukrainians are forced to defend their national identity and freedom. It is a day to honour our unity and resilience.
