The AFUO asked a team from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence to help get Julian Knysh, our very own Ukrainian-Australian documentary film-maker, to the front lines.
We wanted to get some footage of the Bushmasters in action, show Australians how grateful we are for Australia’s military aid, and explain to Ukrainian soldiers the importance of the Australian ANZAC tradition.
Using drone and ground-level footage, Julian filmed the Bushmasters helping Ukrainian soldiers do their job. We hear Ukrainian soldiers solemnly declaring the Ode of Remembrance.
Thank you Alla Storozhuk for explaining to Australian viewers about the anguish you must feel every day – forced to flee Ukraine with your children, leaving your husband behind, bravely defending Ukraine. We pray with you that you will be together again.
We join all of Australia on 25 April – Anzac Day – in commemorating those who have served Australia in time of war.
We will remember them. Lest we forget.
