Through the generosity of over 15,000 donors, the AFUO – Ukraine Crisis Appeal is funding the transportation of a 40-foot container with critical medical and humanitarian aid to hospitals and doctors in Ukraine.
The shipment will contain 32 pallets of medical and humanitarian aid, plus three dental chairs, 25 wheelchairs, 2 patient hoists, 25 de-mining metal detectors, 28 ventilators, 4 pallets of blankets, a generator and four walkers.
Major donations were received from:
- The Department of Health Queensland – 28 ventilators
- Dr Andrew Dobrotwir and family, and Mr Himanshu Gupta of EverX, for funding two C-Arm Scanners – medical imaging devices based on X-ray technology and two Ultrasound machines. These devices have been requested by orthopaedic surgeons in Lviv and Kyiv and will provide high resolution images in real time to enable doctors to treat the wounded effectively.
- Nathan Burraston and his team from the ACT who funded another 25 de-mining metal detectors
- Waverly Mills (Tasmania) – 400 woollen blankets
Many thanks to the enthusiastic team of volunteers headed up by Teresa Lachowicz who came together at “Rotary Donations in Kind” in Footscray, Victoria, to assemble the shipment, which will leave Melbourne on 24 November bound for Ukraine via Poland.
